The things I carry…

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

This post is inspired by the novel, “The Things They Carried”, by Tim O’Brien. Very good book, it puts a very human perspective on war. My list puts a very mentally ill perspective on me.

I generally carry two bags, my manbag, and my backpack. We’ll start with the manbag.

Five black ink pens, Uniballs. .007 and ,005’s. I like pens.
A mechanical pencil, with a pak of replacement leads.
Sharpies, black and red, double sided. Duh. everybody should be this sick.
A yellow highlighter.
A small bottle of Ibuprofen, cause something is always swelling or throbbing.
A small container of Vick’s or Mentholatum, you can never have enough salve.
My old iPod Nano, mostly as a storage device.
A thumbdrive.
Bic lighter.
Superglue. No, I don’t sniff it.
An iTrip for my old iPod, so I can listen over my car radio.
Folding utility knife.
A cigar cutter.
My wallet. Without your bankcard and ID, your pond scum.
A picture of my grandson.
Spare headphones.
Finger nail clippers
A Tape measure.
Note pad.
iPhone. Without your personal communicator, you might as well slit your own throat with your folding utility knife.
Two pieces of polystyrene I intended as dividers to organize my bits of paper…HAAA!
A pouch that I keep my iPhone headphones, instruction booklet, power cord and adapter.
A Zip disk.
Keys. Without these your nothing.

I’m gonna have to continue this, my backpack is a quadruple the sickness and I’m tired.

P.S.- I had my first Jubel Ale of the year. Always a wonderful time of year. And I’m listening to
“The, The- Dusk. Great Album.

As most of you know I am a frustrated artist, be it by lack of time, money, blah, blah, blah and etc. Bad excuses everyone. I do still haunt around the art scene to see what’s going on. Matthew Barney is a museum artist from the Bay area, and raised in Idaho. I call it museum art to differentiate it, it can’t be classed with pop art or design. It always makes you uncomfortable and usually defies explaination, “A beautifully sculpted train wreck.” Guys like this know how to emerse themselves in their art and for that I admire them, even if the work sometimes escapes me. Take a look.

In other unexplainable news, I sent in my ballot. bada bum.

There are no good choices really. I’m more democrat that republican, like it matters. God I just want someone to lead and manage the country. I don’t need to agree with everything they say, someone with half a fucking brain.

The Hulk

Yeah. If you like a good monster movie in the mighty Marvel tradition you’ll like this. Much better than the first one. When you look at them together the first was really just too “artsy”. This had no such aspirations, two big meanies, hitting each other. Ed Norton did a good job. At the end Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) made an appearance which leads me to believe that there is a Avengers movie in the works.
Right on.

Indiana Jones and whatever

I listen to music and all it does is remind me of stuff I listened too when I was younger. It’s all circular.

The The; Dust
Specifically “Dogs of Lust”; “Love is Stronger than Death”
but the whole album is beautiful.

I hope no of you have the crud like I have for the last week. Man. Bad Stuff.

Until next time.
