Hey All-

Manifesto #12-

12. In business, everyone else’s ideas are crap, pro and con. It’s your life, your risk, your money. The art to business planning is knowing your clientele, or if you have any, or if they even exist. It requires a lot of observation and study of the market you intend to go into. What is the culture? What are the people’s habits? Who makes up the market?

I’ve been reading “Trainspotting”, and I must say it isn’t easy. It’s written in cockney, the way lowbrow english people talk. Very hard to understand. If your a linguist and like a challenge this is the book for you. I am not. I might come back to it later.

Kim is going back to Wisconsin to wrap some business up with the house and bring our equipment back here. I will stay and work. I can’t say work is alway great, but it’s work and by doing it, I’m moving a head instead of watching our lives go down the shitter.

I was able to spend time with my grandson Hyrum Tuesday. A rare pleasure. It was great, what a great little kid. Can’t wait to get him into barn boots.

We’ve had a great big bald eagle having dinner on our birds lately.

Talk to you soon

hey all-

I always have stuff to say in the mornings on the way into work, but by the time I get to my computer it vanishes. I just finished “Less than Zero” by Bret Easton Ellis. Jeez, just shoot me. Reading it was like having a dull throb behind your eyes that aspirin can’t cure. Next up is “Trainspotting”. It was a movie ten or so years back and british with a lot of their type of humor. Which I like, so right on. Today looks to be beautiful, hooray for a little sun.
I am amazed that I can manage to sleep on the scant patch of hair on my head wrong. There is a piece that’s sticking out and won’t lay flat.
shit.

Weekend off…

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Hey All-

This was my weekend off, and a pretty good one it was. Saturday we made more headway on the new dog houses and kennel. We are breaking up the pack. I’m getting pretty accomplished at carpentry. I really just have found an appreciation of free time as I have so little anymore.

Saturday night of course as all of you know Beau and Nicole got hitched. It was a beautiful wedding, I cried, Kim cried, Drew cried, Josh cried…and puked. Everyone cried, so A+. This was pretty weird for me, Josh’s birth was probably the first major thing I can remember, followed by Beau. I remember both as babies. It was good to see the family too.

Sunday we started working outside, but it started to rain and we went to a movie instead. Ironman. I recommend it. Lots of action, only a little bit of a plot. Mindless. Yeah.

I’m anxious to start planning the family reunion too. Probably September.

Until next time.

“The Road”, and stuff…

Here’s Sean at the DMZ.
I finished “The Road”, it was ok. It’s going to be a movie this year, being that a movie is only an hour and a half, it should play pretty good. The plot is simple. I’m on to “Less than Zero”, by Bret Easton Ellis, the guy who brought us “American Psycho”. He is super at writing about rich people with no conscience at all.

Speaking of books, there’s an election coming up to get a new library up in Arlington and I would encourage anyone in Snohomish county to vote yes. Reading is good and doesn’t involve sending all of our young people to Iraq to get dead. Not getting dead is a good use of public funds. Satan and his cronies should funnel a little of the wealth created by sending people to death into teaching people to read and building libraries. Did I say Satan,…I meant George Bush.

Now I’m bummed out.

Talk to you later.

This is OK, when they come out and say drugs and prostitution are suffering from the downturn, we’re screwed. (no pun intended)
