Reading a new book, “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. I’ve read one of his books before, “Blood Meridian”, It’s a real blood n’ guts western. Cormac is a old man himself with a small kid, guess he got spry in his old age. Anyway the book follows a old man and his very young son through a post apocalyptic earth (the bomb, rapture, some damn thing, he doesn’t really say). Needless to say the world is a barren wasteland, no food, no water, cannibals, no hope, most of the things that make for great stories all it’s missing is zombie Go-Go girls. It’s a little slow and vague in the beginning, but it’s all set up and it turns out really good. I’m about half way through, so this is a review of half of a book. I recommend it, and if that’s not enough, Oprah has endorsed it, and if that’s still not enough, the type is pretty big and no really big words are used.
Maybe I’ll write a review of the whole thing later.
