Buy In…

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

hello all-

Just checking in. This week was really good. Consistent sales, consistent clients and new faces all the time. Makes me feel like we made the right decision.
Wanted to let you know we’re still alive.
More to come…

…but I’m letting A&D ointment soak into my dishpan hands. Ok, I have more pictures on Flickr for you to look at. It’s been going good, and will continue to get better. People love Kim’s food (even though I’m making now, while Kim is working on selling the Washington house) and love the coffee. It doesn’t matter where you are, the people that know there coffee, know exactly what they want and don’t mind paying for it. July 1 is the beer and wine date, so the menu will expand to include appetizers and more entree items. I’m working on booking events for the month of july. I want to have something going for sure Friday and Saturday nites. I just got some contact tonite of some movers and shaker in western Wisconsin. Surprising to me, it was a guy who DJ’s all over the world and also has a coffee/salon down the road in St. Croix Falls. I’ll get a hold of him tomorrow and start that process in earnest. Kim is coming back this weekend and I can’t wait, it’s like walking around on one foot and a stump.
I need to thank all of the people who have helped us out here. One lady came in one day and measured all of our tables, went home and made table clothes for us. No charge. Didn’t even ask. Gary, Terry, and Jon for helping with the patio fencing, my brother in law bruce for painting the front of the building one day while I was working the shop. And most of all my sister in law Marilyn, who has been tireless, doing prep at night so I could go home and get much needed rest, working weekends with me and generally just hanging out and keeping me company. Gary has been mowing my lawn, that kicks ass. Jon has introduced me to several bars in the area and there owners, which is good socially and business speaking, they all have been helpful and forcoming when I asked questions about distributors and advise on business in a small town. Carol, Kim’s former sister in law for filling in when I had to drive into the shitties for supplies, at a moments notice, on a Saturday even. Her new husband Keith for getting down on his reconstructed knees and laying floor tiles. The Village of Frederic has been awesome with the licensing and advise on financing options through the county, and even the county and health inspector have been great. Those are important relationships to have go well, needless to say.

Well that’s a lot so I’ll scoot. Busy weekend, it’s father’s day weekend and Frederic shuts down the streets and has a three day shin dig. And goes right in front of my shop! cool.

Talk to you soon

Still here. Been busy running the shop and trying to get all the important stuff doled out the the people who do it best. Like accounting for instance. It become evident that theres no way I have time for it, so happy birthday and merry christmas for my accountant. keeping the money straight is too important and I got too much other shit to do. The people here are really supportive and friendly. There are people here who are extremely kind and generous and if you win them over they will show you both. I’m tired and should be doing something else but screw it, I’m going to bed. This has been extremely hard and rewarding at the same time.

talk again soon
